Sampling and subsequent testing of milk has traditionally been limited to individual cows or bulk tank samples. With today’s large dairy herds there is a growing recognition of the value of sampling and the evaluation of milk from groups of cows, i.e. line sampling. Valuable management information can be obtained from these samples to improve milk quality, herd health and feeding programs.
Until now, the dairy farm industry had been at a loss in finding a way of sampling cow groups aseptically (without contamination).
